Coupling reduced-order blood flow and cardiac models through energy-consistent strategies: modeling and discretization

چکیده
Abstract In this work we provide a novel energy-consistent formulation for the classical 1D of blood flow in an arterial segment. The resulting reformulation is shown to be suitable coupling with lumped (0D) model heart that incorporates reduced actin-myosin interaction. being consistent energy balances, complete heart-circulation compatible thermodynamics hence stable numerically and informative physiologically. These latter two properties are verified by numerical experiments.

Reduced Order Modeling of Reacting Shear Flow
Thermoacoustic instability in premixed combustors occurs occasionally at multiple frequencies, especially in configurations where flames are stabilized on separating shear layers that form downstream of sudden expansions or bluff bodies. While some of these frequencies are related to the acoustic field, others appear to be related to shear flow instability phenomena. It is shown in this paper t...

متن کاملModeling Blood Flow Through Vascular Grafts
Vascular grafts based on permeable textile structures are now a widely accepted technology. The performance of the graft is largely dependent on the ability to allow controlled blood to flow through its thickness, yet predicting this flow rate is still not widely understood. An analytical model is in development based on fabric construction parameters, with the aim being to predict the permeabi...
